Newborn hearing screening

A hearing screen is offered to all eligible babies under three months of age in England.

The screen takes place either at the birth hospital or at an outpatient clinic.

In Dorset, you will be automatically offered a screen for your baby by the community newborn hearing screening team when your baby is about 10-days-old, or by the hospital if your baby is an inpatient on the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) or special care baby unit (SCBU).
